If you've lived with pain that hasn't made sense, or that hasn't responded the way you were told it should, I want you to know there is a path forward.
I've spent much of my personal and professional life dedicated to understanding pain and what it can teach us. With one in four Australians over 45 living with chronic pain, it has touched many of us, either directly or through someone we love. My own motivation to be the best clinician I can be was strengthened by the desire to help loved ones lost in the vortex of overwhelming symptoms. I know, through personal and professional experience, that we need not remain stuck.
My practice is built on both the science and the lived experience of the mindbody connection, particularly the interface between pain and suffering, and the insight and growth that can arise from working with pain rather than against it.
Sessions are trauma informed, involving a curious, gentle exploration of your story so far, so together we can understand your own path out of it. With compassion and care, I'm passionate about guiding you back to yourself, helping you rediscover your agency, rebuild trust in your body, and reconnect with your own intuitive wisdom, so you can recognise patterns, understand flare-ups, and move toward the fuller life waiting on the other side of pain.
I completed my physiotherapy degree in 2004 and found my way into pain through my interest in brain neuroscience while working as a neurological physiotherapist. Since 2012, I have dedicated my practice entirely to persistent pain.
Through individual and group interventions, I have treated complex chronic pain cases within The Royal Melbourne Hospital's chronic pain service alongside leading medical pain specialists and am now the Project and Clinical Lead of an interdisciplinary chronic pain service in a community health setting.
In 2018, I was awarded a titled membership with the Australian College of Physiotherapists in pain management, and I lecture on pain to the Doctor of Physiotherapy Master's degree at the University of Melbourne.
I have a lifelong dedication to contemplative practices including yoga and insight meditation, and I am a certified senior mindfulness facilitator experienced in delivering the evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.
My commitment to contemplative wisdom and neuroscience has been bolstered by contemporaries such as Dr Howard Schubiner, Dr Rebecca Kennedy, Dr Allan Abbass, Dr Mark Lumley, Dr Craig Hassed, Dr Bruno Cayoun, Dr Rick Hanson, Dr Sara Lazar, Dr Norm Farb, Dr Bud Craig, Tara Brach, Dr Bessel van der Kolk, Professor Jo Nijs (amongst many, many others).
